On Our Cover Art


The cover art for this issue of lines was contributed by Geevan a.k.a. Nanda Kandasamy, who is a Toronto based Sri Lankan artist (to learn more about Geevan’s work please contact n_kandasamy@hotmail.com).

The ambivalence about whether the figure depicted is facing up towards us, or down and away from us, captures the contradictions and complexities of the imagined spaces in her head – and, indeed, the imagined spaces and places of the many intersecting territorial nationalisms (and the attendant contestations) in Sri Lanka today.
